ICOM Philippines President Gina Barte attends ICOM’s 76th Advisory Committee meeting and its 27th General Assembly held from June 4 to 6, 2012 in Paris at the UNESCO Headquarters.

The ICOM Advisory Committee, composed of the Presidents of National and International Committees as well as of Affiliated Organizations, is convened annually to discuss and make recommendations that will help define the organization’s actions. It advises the Executive Council (ICOM’s Board) on policies, programs, procedures, and on ICOM’s finances.

The National Committees come together in one of the sessions of this Annual meeting, separately from the International Committees. Their recommendations are adopted by the Advisory Committee and they are subsequently presented to ICOM’s Executive Council during the General Assembly.

For the ICOM Philippines President, the Annual meeting is an opportunity for connecting with museum colleagues, for sharing experiences, exchanging valuable knowledge; and seek out common interests across professional disciplines as this is where partnerships and cooperation are formed.
